Mercedes-Benz is a renowned cars, trucks (long distance, pick-up and distribution, construction), coaches and vans manufacturer. The Mercedes trucks won the « Truck of the Year » award several times: in 1985 for the LN2, in 1990 for the SK, in 1999 for the Atego, in 2011 for the Atego. The Actros won 4 times: in 1997, in 2004, in 2009 and in 2012.
In 1886, German Gottlieb Daimler invented the internal combustion engine then created the Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft company in 1890 with his son Paul Daimler, who succeeded him in 1900, and Wilhelm Maybach. In 1902, Emil Jellinek, an important Daimler dealer in France, trademarked the commercial make Mercedes as a tribute to his daughter, and obtain the exclusive right for the sale of the Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft vehicles in France, in Austria-Hungary, in Belgium and in the USA. In 1924, Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft joins Benz & Cie of Karl Benz and becomes Mercedes-Benz AG on June 28th 1926.
