Volvo is a Swedish manufacturer of industrial vehicles and engines sold under different makes: Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks, Renault Trucks, Volvo Buses, Volvo Construction Equipment , Volvo Penta (marine engines) and Volvo Aero (aeronautic). Volvo is currently the first European truck manufacturer, and the second worldwide with production sites in 25 countries. The Volvo trucks have received the « Truck of the Year » award several times: F7 in 1979, F10 in 1984, FL in 1986, FH in 1994 and 2000, and FH16 in 2014.
Founded in 1927, Volvo has manufactured its first truck in 1928. After several decades of car manufacturing, the car branch has been sold to Ford in 1999, which sold it to the Chinese Geely in 2010. In 2002, the truck production branch has been restructured and divided into three companies: Renault Trucks, Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks.
